My name is Jak Aberdein-Tapuai and I am the school social worker employed by Barnardos to work with you and your children if the need arises.
The types of things I can do to help children include stuff that is impacting on their learning and development while they are at school. This could include behaviour, emotional well-being, social interaction, self-esteem, and anger. I can work one-on-one with your child or provide group programmes to tackle subjects like anger, loss and grief.
I can also help family’s access community resources like the food bank and parenting programmes; and provide advocacy and support for places like Work and Income and Housing agencies. I am a great listener too and can give you advice as well as help you come up with your own solutions to problems.
Being a mother of four school children I can understand the stressors involved in raising a family so please contact me if you think I may be able to help on: 027 839 9474, 04 8011708,
or alternatively you can speak to the school and they can contact me on your behalf.
